Publisher-Controlled Information for Generative Search

G-SEO™ is a publisher-controlled implementation specification for explicitly representing information to generative-search and information-retrieval environments.

It defines what an implementation communicates without requiring a specific file format, platform, search engine, AI model, or delivery mechanism.

Organizations may optionally implement G-SEO to publish a clear first-party description of information such as:

  • identity
  • purpose
  • scope
  • products and services
  • relationships
  • boundaries
  • authority
  • official sources
  • other defined organizational information

G-SEO implementations remain controlled by the publisher.

What G-SEO Does

Information about an organization can exist across websites, profiles, directories, documentation, publications, platforms, and other public environments.

Those sources may differ in wording, context, structure, completeness, or age.

G-SEO provides a standardized implementation model through which an organization can explicitly represent publisher-defined information about itself, its offerings, relationships, scope, and authoritative sources.

The specification defines the information model and implementation requirements.

The organization defines and maintains its own information.

What a G-SEO Implementation Can Communicate

A G-SEO implementation may explicitly describe:

Identity

Who the organization, brand, product, service, or other defined subject is.

Purpose and Scope

What the subject does, provides, covers, or is responsible for.

Products and Services

The products, services, offerings, categories, or capabilities associated with the subject.

Relationships

How organizations, brands, products, services, locations, resources, and other defined subjects relate.

Boundaries

What is included, excluded, supported, represented, or outside the defined scope.

Authority

Which information, sources, domains, resources, or representations the publisher identifies as official or authoritative.

Publisher Controlled

G-SEO does not become authoritative over the organization implementing it.

The publisher controls:

  • the information it provides
  • the scope of its implementation
  • its publication method
  • its updates
  • its authoritative sources
  • its implementation lifecycle

G-SEO defines the implementation specification.

The implementing organization remains responsible for its own information.

Format Independent

G-SEO is not a .txt file.

It is not defined by JSON, XML, HTML, or any other specific serialization.

A G-SEO implementation may be expressed through one or more technical representations provided that the required information and meaning defined by the specification are preserved.

This allows implementations to evolve as technologies and retrieval environments change without redefining G-SEO itself.

Discoverable and Retrievable

A useful G-SEO implementation should not only be understandable.

It should also be discoverable and retrievable.

G-SEO therefore addresses how implementations can be publicly exposed so that compatible search, retrieval, generative, and other information systems can locate and access them.

The specification does not require external systems to retrieve or use a G-SEO implementation.

It provides a standardized implementation that those systems may consume.

Built for Practitioners

G-SEO is intended to be implemented by professionals responsible for how organizational information is represented publicly.

This may include:

  • SEO professionals
  • technical SEO teams
  • GEO practitioners
  • digital marketing teams
  • content strategists
  • information architects
  • knowledge-management professionals
  • developers
  • agencies
  • in-house search and content teams

G-SEO is not the SEO service.

G-SEO is the specification practitioners can implement.

Independent of Search Outcomes

G-SEO does not guarantee rankings, traffic, visibility, citations, generated-answer inclusion, indexing, retrieval, recommendations, or model preference.

These outcomes remain controlled by external systems and other factors.

G-SEO defines an implementation method for explicitly representing publisher-controlled information.

Implementation

Organizations may implement G-SEO voluntarily.

A G-SEO implementation may be:

  • published directly by an organization
  • created with practitioner support
  • maintained internally
  • implemented manually
  • generated or maintained through software
  • represented in one or more supported technical formats

No particular vendor, model, search engine, platform, or CMS is required.

G-SEO™ Framework Legacy

The G-SEO™ Framework was the original body of work developed under the G-SEO name.

That framework is no longer the current G-SEO implementation model.

Legacy G-SEO Framework materials remain available for historical and reference purposes and are clearly identified as legacy content.
